Imagine Cup Junior

Bring us into your Grade 9 – 12 classroom for this Hackathon event – a lesson on AI/Machine Learning concepts. Students receive FREE Microsoft AI Fundamentals certification and a chance to win a Microsoft Surface Laptop Go prize pack valued at $1,899.

Day 1, Monday May 17, 2:30 – 4:30 EST of the Hackathon LIVE synchronous event will be spent ideating and creating an “AI for Good” project which will be submitted as an entry into the global Imagine Cup Junior competition.

Day 2, Wednesday May 19, 2:30 – 4:30 EST of the Hackathon LIVE synchronous event is when your students will learn more about the fundamental concepts related to artificial intelligence (AI) and Microsoft Azure services and prepare for the exam (approximately one hour.) The second hour will be spent writing the certification exam (one hour).

About the Competition

What is it?

Imagine Cup Junior is a global technology challenge where educators lead secondary students to dream up ideas that can be used to positively make a difference in the world. This year’s challenge is focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is themed, AI for good.

Who can participate

Educators and parents/guardians of students aged 13 – 18 can submit applications. Teams consist of between 2 and six students and you can enter as many teams as you would like (no limit).

Why participate?

  1. Students will learn about Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cloud Computing and how to apply these concepts in the real world.
  2. Teachers receive access to comprehensive learning modules.
  3. Encourage students to develop and practice 21st-century skills like communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
  4. Prepare students for future job roles.
  5. Provide an opportunity to innovate and create for a good cause.
  6. Receive ongoing support through a Canadian Mentorship Microsoft Team and attend optional drop-in sessions.
  7. Receive FREE Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals Credentials ($150 value).

Submission Deadline is May 21, 2021 and winners will be announced June 10, 2021
