    Description: Explore Minecraft: Education Edition and learn how to promote creativity, collaboration and problem-solving by moving, placing and breaking blocks in a world. Gain access to resources and lesson plans for support and learn how to engage students through a co-taught experience using Minecraft. Learn how to manage worlds, set up your classroom, share activities and more with Minecraft!

    Description : Découvrez comment guider vos élèves dans le cadre de la “Hour of Code 2021” de cette année. Minecraft : Education Edition, “Timecraft” sur iPad. En voyageant dans le temps, les élèves mettront leurs compétences en codage à l’épreuve pour aider à corriger des problèmes historiques survenus dans le passé. Les élèves amélioreront leurs capacités de réflexion créative pour résoudre des problèmes à l’aide du code en utilisant les blocs MakeCode de Minecraft et en apprenant des techniques de codage plus avancées grâce au langage de codage Python. Vous apprendrez également à utiliser les fonctions d’accessibilité de l’iPad lorsque les élèves se plongeront dans le monde de Minecraft. Vous découvrirez également des conseils et des astuces pour faciliter le partage des portfolios par les élèves en vue de leur évaluation.

    Co-Taught Activity – Crafting with Code & Math in Minecraft on iPad Gr. 4-8

    Description: Explore with your students in this year’s Computer Science Education Week an activity around building structures with MakeCode and Math. Students will put their coding skills to the test in this project-based learning activity by solving math problems in order to build their structure on iPad. Students will then enhance their skills by using MakeCode to code the agent to help build their structure using coding fundamentals such as sequences, loops and more. Students will also use iPad’s accessibility features as they dive into the Minecraft world along with gaining tips and tricks in easily sharing portfolios for assessment.

    Objectives: 
    -Through project-based learning, solve Math problems to find the size of the build using iPad’s
    -Explain how answers to Math problems were achieved 
    -Code with MakeCode to craft specific areas of the build
    -Learn how to code using the fundamental concepts of sequences and loops in MakeCode
    -Gain insight on iPad’s accessibility and assessment features in Minecraft

Avec MakeCode Arcade, les élèves créeront des projets et des jeux amusants grâce à l’utilisation d’éditeurs de blocs et de texte pour aider chaque apprenant à différents niveauxRéalisez quelques activités avec MakeCode et découvrez à quel point il est facile de commencer à créer vos propres programmes en blocs ou en texte.

    Objectifs d’apprentissage :  
    -Apprendre à créer des programmes avec la plateforme MakeCode Arcade. 
    -Apprendre à créer des jeux et des projets dans les éditeurs de blocs et de texte.  
    -Apprenez à réaliser des activités et des puzzles avec MakeCode.

    Description: Explore with your students in this year’s Computer Science Education Week, an activity around building roads in a city in Minecraft. Explore mathematical concepts as students build their road to survival. Students will use Minecraft: Education Edition to write equations to figure out how many blocks they will need to construct roads and more!  

    Objectives:  

    -Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.
    -Write simple expressions that record calculations with numbers, and interpret numerical expressions without evaluating them. 
    -Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real-world problems.
    -Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. 

What is Educator PD?  

  • Hands-on learning experience focused on enhancing your digital and educational skills that you can use in your classroom 
  • The session will cover how a Logics trainer and educator can join your class as they co-teach an activity as a guest speaker for the day 
  • The session will allow you to gain credits and badges towards your Professional Learning journey

What is a Co-Taught Lesson?  

  • Via Microsoft Teams Live, a Logics trainer and educator will join you live in teaching your students. 
  • You will learn alongside your students throughout this activity 
  • This lesson showcases ideas and strategies that allow both the teacher and students to learn new skills through modelling. 
  • If you’re teaching in person, project this session on the screen at the front of the classroom as the Logics trainer shares their screen and streams live 
  • If you’re teaching virtually, join us on the Microsoft Teams Live call and share your screen with your class. 
  • Worried about student privacy? Don’t worry, the lessons are hosted via live stream, so they aren’t even on camera! 
  • Worried about timing? Register and you will receive a recording that you can use with your class at any time!
