Fresh Ideas for Summer School: Sparking Literacy & Numeracy Skills!

Looking for exciting and FREE ways to keep your Summer School students truly engaged? Keeping students motivated and excited about learning can be a real challenge, especially when the sun is shining and summer fun is calling. That’s why Logics Academy is offering three innovative, hands-on lesson series that move beyond worksheets and unlock learning in ways your students will love.

Best of all, you can participate in the way that works for your summer classroom. Join us via a live-streamed lesson to engage with our instructors in real-time, use the on-demand recordings to guide your whole class at your own pace, or provide the lesson links to individual students for personalized enrichment and self-directed activities.

No matter what you’re teaching this summer, from literacy and numeracy enrichment to Indigenous Studies, Social Studies, Language Arts, Coding, Music and more, there’s something here for you and your students.

Check out the THREE different series we’re running this summer below:

Unlock Skills with Codingville (Grades 2 – 5)
Lessons will stream live at 9:30am Eastern and 9:30am Pacific

Take your students on a three-part coding adventure where they’ll build their own animated stories and interactive games. This series offers a fresh approach to building literacy skills, as students practice narrative development, sequencing, and instructional writing through the fun of creating their own game. They’ll also strengthen their numeracy skills by using loops to create patterns, variables for scoring, and logic to design challenges, all within a vibrant, game-based platform.

Find Their Voice with Your Voice is Power (Grades 6 and up)
Lessons will stream live at 9:30am Eastern

This powerful series uses a unique blend of music, coding, and social justice to connect with students. By exploring the songs of First Nations artists, students will engage their literacy skills through analyzing lyrics as poetry and practicing persuasive writing. They will dive into numeracy concepts by using coding to tell compelling stories and applying functions and variables to remix their own songs. It’s a fantastic, culturally relevant way to build critical academic and life skills.

Explore Learning with Robotics (Grades 1 – 8)
Lessons will stream live at 9:30am Eastern

Ignite creativity and problem-solving with our multi-level robotics series. Each lesson offers a hands-on way to make abstract skills concrete. Younger students will program a Dash robot to act out stories, directly engaging their literacy skills in sequencing and their numeracy skills in geometry and measurement. Older students will tackle design challenges, building their capacity for technical writing, data analysis, and mathematical precision. This series is perfect for showing how literacy and numeracy are the essential building blocks for innovation.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners for powering our
