JA British Columbia (JABC) set out to empower elementary classrooms with accessible, high‑quality coding education—but without volunteers available to support delivery, teachers needed a solution that was intuitive, engaging, and easy to implement. Partnering with Logics Academy, JABC introduced a turnkey coding program that gave educators the confidence and tools to teach foundational coding skills while providing students with a fun, interactive learning experience. The result was a seamless program rollout that not only equipped teachers with the support they needed, but also inspired hundreds of students across British Columbia and Alberta to explore the world of coding.

“What a great way to introduce coding to the
class, especially if teachers aren't familiar with
it! As a teacher, it was nice to have zero start-up
work and be able to show students the
answers when needed. You could see the
student's work and provide feedback with the
answer key as needed.”

Challenge

JA British Columbia (JABC) was interested in introducing a coding program to students and teachers in grades 4 to 6 that was engaging but also easy to administer and support. Without volunteers in the classroom to help deliver the learning, teachers would need to be comfortable with coding concepts and feel empowered to guide their students to be successful.

Solution

Logics Academy provided a full, turnkey solution to meet the needs of JABC. The coding platform, Robogarden Playground, is a fun and easy way to code and provides teachers with a tool that allows them to manage all aspects of their students' progress without previous coding experience. Teachers received training on how to use the platform and had access to a peer-topeer support channel to ask questions and share best practices along the learning journey. Resources like program cheat sheets and teacher guides were also accessible which helped the program flow seamlessly into the classroom.

Results

JABC launched their coding program in Spring 2023 and completed it in December. Fifty classes from across BC took part and the feedback was very positive. JA Alberta has also embraced the same coding program and over 300 teachers have participated so far with similar enthusiastic results
