Across education systems, leaders are asking the same question: How can we responsibly and effectively prepare educators and schools for AI? In New Brunswick, that question led to a province‑wide collaboration focused on building real capacity, confidence, and clarity around AI use in education.
Logics Academy partnered with the New Brunswick Department of Education, NB Lead, and the Centre of Excellence for Digital Innovation (COEDI) to launch a comprehensive AI Readiness and Microsoft Copilot initiative designed to support educators, school leaders, and system administrators. Rather than focusing on tools alone, the initiative centered on people, practice, and purpose.
Moving Beyond Tools to Build Real AI Confidence
AI adoption in education is often slowed by uncertainty. Educators want to understand what AI is, how it can support their work, and how to use it safely and responsibly. This initiative addressed those needs head‑on through a structured, province‑wide approach that combines professional learning with authentic application.
Through a series of training webinars, educators and leaders explore how Microsoft Copilot can support instructional planning, communication, and daily workflows. Sessions focused on practical use cases aligned with provincial priorities, helping staff see immediate value while building foundational AI literacy.
Supporting Leaders Through Real World Use Cases
For school and district leaders, the initiative extended beyond training into a collaborative AI Use Case project, aligned with NB Lead. Leaders worked together in communities of practice to explore real challenges and apply AI to tasks such as school improvement planning, communication, data analysis, and operational efficiency.
This approach ensured that AI was not treated as a theoretical concept, but as practical support for leadership work. Participants left with AI‑enabled processes they could apply immediately, reinforcing confidence and encouraging thoughtful adoption across schools.
“When systems invest in shared understanding and practical application, AI becomes a catalyst for authentic teaching, leadership, and decision‑making, not a source of uncertainty. AI readiness isn’t about introducing the latest technology, it’s about helping school staffs to leaders feel confident, informed, and supported in how they use it”
A Model Designed to Scale
What makes this work in New Brunswick especially powerful is that it was intentionally designed as a system‑wide, repeatable model. The initiative demonstrates that successful AI readiness is not about one‑off workshops or isolated pilots. It requires coordinated leadership, aligned goals, safe use of guidelines, and professional learning that respects educators’ time and realities.
By engaging education partners, building shared language around AI, and grounding learning in authentic practice, the province has created a blueprint that other regions can adapt to their own contexts.
Bringing This Work to Other Provinces and Districts
Every education system is unique, but the need for AI readiness is shared. The New Brunswick experience shows how provinces and districts can move forward with intention, collaboration, and clarity.
Logics Academy is continuing to support jurisdictions interested in building similar AI readiness initiatives using Microsoft Copilot and other AI‑enabled tools. Whether the goal is supporting classroom educators, strengthening leadership capacity, or developing system‑level confidence with AI, this model provides a proven starting point.
This work is made possible thanks to the support of Microsoft Elevate for Educators, whose commitment to advancing digital equity and AI readiness helps ensure educators and leaders have access to the tools, training, and confidence they need to succeed.
