Coding and Hip Hop Collide 3-Part Series

Join us as we embark on a 3-part music and coding journey for grades 9-12!

Think it’s impossible to create your own hip hop tracks and learn powerful coding skills? Think again! In this lesson you’ll unlock the secrets of both worlds. Remix beats from iconic artists like Pharrell and Alicia Keys, discover fresh samples from Canadian talents like Samian, Dakota Bear, and Jaylee Wolf, and build your own unique music using other royalty-free samples.

While you’re creating musical masterpieces, you’ll also be learning the fundamentals of Python coding. Let the code become your instrument, manipulate sounds, sequence beats, and push the limits of your creativity, creating music mixes you never thought possible.

Ready to code the rhythm and drop the beat? Join us for this 3 part series, featuring the team from Logics Academy alongside Canadian Googlers and other guest speakers. This lesson is geared towards Grade 9-12 students who are new to coding, but all experience levels are welcome!

Here’s what it looks like:

May 4th:  Introduction to Earsketch and laying your first tracks

May 11th: Refining your songs and adding your voice

From May 12th to May 24th, keep refining your songs and share them with us to be featured during the Showcase on May 25th.

May 25th: Showcasing your music to our Guest Speaker Panel

All lessons are 75 minutes, starting at 10am Pacific | 1pm Eastern.
