Would you like to take your students on a journey to create their own Google Logo? Come join us to kick off Computer Science Education Week with a 60 minute co-taught CS First lesson! Teachers and students from Grade 4 and up are invited to join us for a hands-on experience with block-based programming in Scratch for CS First. Googlers will join to share their expertise as we all create our logos.

Discover AI in Daily Life with Google’s Applied Digital Skills
Have you ever wondered how an app can recommend movies that you may like? Or how a computer can suggest words to finish a sentence you’re typing? Come join us for day two of Computer Science Education Week with a 60 minute co-taught Applied Digital Skills lesson! Teachers and students from Grade 4 and up are invited to join us for a hands-on learning experience using Google’s Applied Digital Skills Discover AI in Daily Life lesson. Students will learn will learn what artificial intelligence is, how people use it every day, and its benefits and challenges using Quick, Draw!, AutoDraw, Google Translate, and Google Slides. Googlers will also join to share their expertise and facilitate a discussion.

Exploring the frontiers of computer science: insights from leading developers
Join us for a captivating journey into the ever-evolving world of computer science as we bring together several developers from unique backgrounds. In this 60-minute panel discussion moderated by Google’s Head of Civil Rights Chanelle Hardy, our panelists will share their insights, experiences, and visions for the future while offering a glimpse into how they overcame obstacles, navigate change, and plan to shape the world of tomorrow. All teachers and students are welcome to join this session and are encouraged to ask questions directly to our panelists.

Repeat – Exploring Creativity and Design in Coding with Codingville (K-3)
In this interactive lesson, students will embark on a unique journey through Codingville, a game-based learning platform that introduces foundational coding skills and logic. This lesson is designed to engage K-3 students in exploring coding concepts through block-based coding puzzles, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and computational thinking. While this lesson is designed specifically for Alberta K-3 educators and students, it’s open to the public and K-3 educators and classes from across Canada are encouraged to participate.

Reporting 101: Misinformation – A CBC Kids News Minecraft Education Lesson
A rumour is spreading at a local school that summer vacation is going to be cancelled and students will have to go to school all year. Investigate the rumour and write an article for Kids News. Using Minecraft Education as our vehicle, join Logics Academy alongside CBC Kids News and dive into a world where your students will identify misinformation and disinformation, while learning the basics of writing and publishing a news story.

FTC SIM Part 1: Programming Using a Virtual Robotics Simulator
FIRST Canada’s FTC SIM is a free online virtual robotics software designed to help students learn the basics of programming FTC Blocks in a simulated challenge environment. This lesson will help teach students the basics, and then once their virtual gears are oiled we’ll roll into preparing for part two where we’ll be combining literacy and coding to program a Mars rover.

Hour of Code – Minecraft Education: Generation AI
Venture through time to create helpful AI-powered inventions in the new Minecraft Hour of Code: Generation AI. Use problem solving, creativity, and computational thinking along with the principles of responsible AI. With coding in MakeCode Blocks or Python, Minecraft Hour of Code invites anyone to learn the basics of coding and how to build better AI for all. Students will need a device with an up-to-date version Minecraft Education installed. No login is needed, and no other prior setup is required.
