Inspire Grade 7 and 8 students to invent creative solutions to everyday problems with this project-based program!

I3’s flexible lessons are curriculum-aligned and easily integrate into teaching plans.

THE INVENTION CONVENTION

The program culminates with a virtual Invention Convention where students showcase their learning and pitch their inventions and creativity to The Learning Partnership’s corporate partners, volunteers and members of the public.

Program features – Educators

  • Educator training: Pre-recorded virtual training sessions for each lesson available to all educators in the public education system across Canada in both English and French
  • Lesson plans and resources: Easy access to a dashboard of training, lesson plans, and resources including student toolkit with activity sheets and accompanying presentations. All available in English & French.
  • Online collaboration & Volunteer Feedback: New online platform for online collaboration among students and structured support to hold end-of-program culminating event – including trained volunteers to provide student feedback
  • National, virtual Invention Convention: Opportunities for your students to showcase their work, receive feedback and share their passion for invention with students across Canada

Program features – Students

  • Research: Students identify a problem or topic and use their creativity, inventiveness and problem-solving skills to develop a solution
  • Build product or prototype: Collaborate to build a prototype or product and plan to launch it! Get real-world feedback from business people and innovators who’ve been in your shoes
  • Showcase your work to the world: Participate in the virtual, national Invention Convention, showcase your work, and share your passion for invention with your peers from across Canada

I3 features lessons on project management, patents and intellectual property, environmental and societal impacts of innovation, market research, and communicating their inventions by creating websites, brochures and promotional videos.
