Language: English

Description: Explore with your students in this year’s Computer Science Education Week, an activity around using math to build a home. Explore how to design a prototype of a house by calculating the area and perimeter of it before it is built. Students will use their mathematical skills to determine the areas found in a house using multiplication and unknown factors.

Objectives:
-Apply the concepts of the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in the real world and through mathematical problems
-Determine the width of a rectangular room given the area of the following and the length by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor
-Design a prototype of a house and calculate its area and perimeter including different rooms within the house
